Chanel Le Vernis Longwear Nail Colour (516 Mariniere & 522 Monochrome )

Earlier this year Chanel reformulated their nail polish, and released new shades. The old shades are mostly no longer available unless some stores have a bit of leftover stock. I did miss out on some of the old shades but I was excited to try their new and improved formula.

I picked up two shades of the new longwear nail colour, 522 Monochrome and 516 Mariniere. The nail polish formula is 5 free and is supposed to be long-wearing and improve the quality of your nails.

522 is a light gray, taupe colour. It was opaque in 3 coats. This colour is almost identical to the french gray colour of Tory Burch handbags.

516 is a dark navy blue, almost looks like black. It was opaque in 2 coats.

Neither of these polishes contain any glitter, they are both creme finishes. Both of these colour are perfect for the fall/ winter season.

I used this polish without a top coat and it does provide shine, but not gel shine. The shine started fading about halfway through the week. It lasted one week before it started chipping and had visible tip wear, I removed it after 10 days. Compared the the old formula I did find there was more shine, and it looks fuller on the nails.

The design of the bottle is still the same, and has the Chanel logo on the top.

Lastly, the brush. I wish they made a better brush along with the new formula. It is still long and thin, not the easiest brush to work with. It works better on the toe nails than finger nails though. I much prefer a brush like Dior or YSL, this is not a great brush to work with.
